EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Value based Christian Educational environment is provided to B.Ed./ D.Ed. students for serving the society with commitment. Teaching Skills they are acquired through practice teaching in various prominent local schools. For special Education Training, our B.Ed. students go for teaching in various special schools. They have practical training in individualized training programme and group teaching for MR children at different levels. Skill in creative teaching material preparation, ability in class room communication, mastery in use of assessment tools etc., from integral part of curricular activities.

CONTINUING REHABILITATION EDUCATION

Through conferences & workshops the college offers training to Special Educators from the schools spread all over India.

COMPUTER TRAINING

The programme was launched initially to train those rural B.Ed./D.Ed. students admitted in the college. Later the facility was extended to train teachers in Special and general schools as week end programme. Generally it is on computer literacy with basic skill training in use of computer in correspondence, data entry and communication for office management.

SKILL TRANSFER

Students from various institutions who have imbibed various skills share them with their friends in embroidery , toy making , painting, crafts, music, dance and sports etc.,

COMMUNITY BASED REHABILITATION CENTRES

The college has a CBR centre in neighbouring village at Veerapandi. The Objectives of the centres are: - Generating awareness in the community regarding disability, concern for removing the social stigma attached to persons with disabilities. - Initiate and organize Action Plans for elevating their living conditions through appropriate rehabilitation measures by involving the public sector, Government and NGOs. - Seek job placements and introduce income generating programmes and out reach projects. - Networking with rural key persons in Panchayat and Youth to popularise government schemes and low cost technologies for the benefit of persons with disabilities.

EXTENSION COUNSELLING SERVICES TO FAMILIES

The burden of rearing severe Intellectual Disability child by families can be reduced and shared by moral, emotional and educational assistance offered on schedule by visits, correspondence and online support. Emotional and Crisis management sessions are conducted.

SPEECH THERAPY UNIT

The Speech therapy unit with laboratory for assessment and therapeutics which is in demand is envisaged.
